Seed the Change!
Seeds of Diversity Canada estimates that nearly 75% of vegetable varieties have disappeared. 25% of native plants are at risk and diversity in flower gardens is shrinking.
We are working to restore the biodiversity that was once common in gardens, farms, and nature around Canada!

About Golden Raspberry (Fall Gold)
‘Fall Gold’ is a delicious and vigorous golden raspberry prized for its delicate flavour and generous harvest. This everbearing primocane variety produces fruit on new wood, allowing for a late-summer to autumn harvest, even in cooler regions. The berries are a beautiful amber-yellow, larger than most wild raspberries, and notably sweeter with low acidity—perfect for snacking straight off the cane or transforming into golden preserves and desserts. Compact and productive, it’s a wonderful addition to any home berry patch or permaculture planting.
Where Can You Grow Golden Raspberry?
Best suited to Zones 4–9, Fall Gold thrives in full sun and well-drained, fertile soil. Performs exceptionally in both coastal and inland regions of Canada, with excellent cold tolerance and reliability in shorter seasons.
History and Historical Uses
Golden raspberries are a natural variation of red raspberries, long appreciated for their subtle flavour and reduced acidity. While not as widely known as their red counterparts, cultivars like ‘Fall Gold’ have become beloved by gardeners for their unique colour, exceptional taste, and dependable performance. Raspberries have long been used not only as food but also in traditional herbal medicine, particularly for their leaves.
Canadian Zone Information
Zones 8–9: Plant in autumn or spring for strong summer/fall fruiting.
Zones 5–7: Spring planting recommended; mulch in winter for protection.
Zone 4: Hardy with mulch; prune canes annually for best yields.
How to Grow and Harvest Golden Raspberry
Planting: Space plants 60–90 cm apart in rows; plant in early spring.
Support: Use a trellis or stakes for upright growth.
Harvesting: Pick berries when fully yellow and soft—usually late August to October.
Maintenance: Prune spent canes at soil level after fruiting to encourage new growth.
Seed Saving Tips for Future Supply
Raspberries are typically propagated from root divisions or suckers rather than seeds, as seedlings vary from the parent plant. For reliable future crops, dig and replant strong suckers or divide crowns in early spring or late fall.
