- Weight: g / oz
- Product Count: Artemisia absinthium
- Growing Difficulty:
Most commonly known today as the main flavouring and active compound in absinthe and vermouth, wormwood has a long history of cultivation and medicinal use. Containing a diversity of medicinal compounds such as thujone, anabsinthin and absinthin, the dried aerial parts (stem, leaf and young flowers) are used traditionally as a bitter tonic to treat gallbladder, digestive and liver complaints, stimulate the apetite and in greater concentrations as a vermifuge, halucigen and sedative. The chemical thujone, while mildly toxic, is used to stimulate the central nervous system. As with all medicinal plants an expert herbalist should be consulted prior to the use of wormwood. One order is 100 grams.
