Dried Wormwood
Dried Wormwood
- Latin Name: Artemisia absinthium
- Seed Count: ≈ Seeds
Most commonly known today as the main flavouring and active compound in absinthe and vermouth, wormwood has a long history of cultivation and medicinal use. Containing a diversity of medicinal compounds such as thujone, anabsinthin and absinthin, the dried aerial parts (stem, leaf and young flowers) are used traditionally as a bitter tonic to treat gallbladder, digestive and liver complaints, stimulate the apetite and in greater concentrations as a vermifuge, halucigen and sedative. The chemical thujone, while mildly toxic, is used to stimulate the central nervous system. As with all medicinal plants an expert herbalist should be consulted prior to the use of wormwood.

I’ve been spoiled by Fiona’s chard and can no longer eat grocery store bought chard. Metchosin farm is a magical seed bank with some of the most unique and carefully created/birthed vegetables and fruits. If you live in the PNW her seeds will be the best thing you ever grow in your garden.

My seeds arrived less than a week after ordering, and so far everything I’ve planted is sprouting beautifully. I have every confidence my family will be feasting like royalty from our garden this summer. Thank you metchosin farm!
