About Sweet Pea Mix
This beautiful and fragrant mix of sweet peas offers a stunning display of colour and scent throughout the summer months. The highly perfumed blossoms are beloved by pollinators and make wonderful cut flowers. These climbing plants thrive with vertical support and reward regular picking with more blooms. A nostalgic favourite for many gardeners, this variety brings to mind memories of traditional English gardens, where the scent of sweet peas drifted in through open windows on summer evenings.
Where Can You Grow Sweet Pea Mix?
Sweet peas grow best in Zones 3–9, preferring full sun and rich, well-drained soil. They benefit from early sowing and cool spring weather and thrive on trellises, fences, or arches.
History and Historical Uses
Sweet peas have been cultivated since the 17th century for their beauty and scent. Originating from the Mediterranean, they became staples in Victorian and English cottage gardens. Today, they remain popular for their romantic appeal and usefulness as long-lasting cut flowers.
