Workshops and Markets!

Because we are a working farm, we are generally not open to the public. Getting to host workshops and attend Seedy Saturday Markets are our chances to connect with our community and customers!

We love meeting all the lovely humans who are joining us in bringing back diversity to our gardens and nature, and who are interested in learning new skills.

Our upcoming workshops and the Seedy Saturdays we will be attending can all be found here!

Metchosin Farm Workshops

Each workshop we host here at the farm is a unique experience!

Enjoy expert, hands-on instruction inside our farm's seed house where you will get a behind the scenes look into our operations. Refreshments and a Metchosin Farm signature snack will be provided featuring our very own crops.

Every workshop will include all required materials and tools PLUS all the additional materials you will need to create another workshop product at home! We belive that practice makes permanent, and the best way to solidify the new skills and knowledge you have learned is to do it again on your own. Or even better, teach your friends and family!

Backyard Basketry: Weaving with Soft Materials

October 25th, 9:30am-12:30pm

In this final part of our Backyard Basketry series, Anne Richmond and Fiona Hamersley-Chambers will teach the art of weaving with soft materials. Participants will work with locally harvested tule and cattails to create light-weight yet sturdy baskets. If you are a beginner, this is a fantastic introduction to basketry, and if you have attended one of our other basketry workshops, this is a great way to continue building your weaving skills.

Participants will learn the history of weaving and basket making while they work, and leave with fresh cattails to practice drying and preparing weaving materials at home.

Held at Metchosin Farm (542 Wootton Road, Victoria, BC)

Farm-to-Medicine: Make Your Own Fire Cider
