Seed the Change!

Seeds of Diversity Canada estimates that nearly 75% of vegetable varieties have disappeared. 25% of native plants are at risk and diversity in flower gardens is shrinking.

We are working to restore the biodiversity that was once common in gardens, farms, and nature around Canada!

About Frosted Explosion Grass
Frosted Explosion Grass (Panicum elegans) is a show-stopping ornamental annual grass valued for its sparkling, airy seed heads that resemble a soft explosion of frost. These delicate, glittering plumes emerge green and mature to a silvery hue, providing striking contrast in cut flower arrangements and dried bouquets. A favourite among florists, this grass grows quickly and easily, forming neat clumps that reach about 60cm tall. It performs well in both containers and garden borders, adding softness and motion to your planting design.

Where Can You Grow Frosted Explosion Grass?
Best suited to Zones 3–9 as an annual. Prefers full sun and fertile, well-drained soil. Great in raised beds, flower borders, or as part of a cut flower plot.

History and Historical Uses
A relatively recent addition to ornamental horticulture, Frosted Explosion has become popular with florists and gardeners for its unique aesthetic. Though not native to North America, its ease of cultivation and versatility in floral arrangements have made it a sought-after grass in the cut flower industry.
