A backbone of the classic English flower garden, hollyhocks are a drought-tolerant, short-lived (2-4 years) perennial that readily self-seeds. Blooming throughout the summer months the tall stems can grow up to 2 metres tall and are covered in striking single blooms in a pretty range of colours.
