About Principe Borghese Tomato
Principe Borghese is a traditional Italian variety celebrated for its prolific production of small, oval-shaped red tomatoes. With firm flesh, low moisture content, and a balanced flavour, it’s renowned as the best variety for making sun-dried tomatoes. The fruit resists cracking, has no shoulders, and ripens evenly—making it equally perfect for fresh snacking or preserving. Compact and tidy, this variety performs exceptionally well in containers and smaller garden spaces.

Where Can You Grow Principe Borghese Tomato?
Grows well in Zones 3-9. Thrives in full sun and fertile, well-drained soil. Ideal for raised beds, containers, patios, and traditional garden rows.

History and Historical Uses
This heirloom tomato originates from southern Italy, where it’s been grown for generations as the tomato of choice for drying under the Mediterranean sun. Its compact plants and concentrated flavour made it a staple in home gardens and culinary traditions, and it remains a favourite for preserving the taste of summer.
