Seed the Change!
Seeds of Diversity Canada estimates that nearly 75% of vegetable varieties have disappeared. 25% of native plants are at risk and diversity in flower gardens is shrinking.

About Rattlesnake Pole Bean
Rattlesnake Pole Bean is a vigorous and decorative climbing bean that produces an abundant harvest of green pods streaked with purple. Not only are the pods beautiful, but they’re also delicious when eaten fresh, and equally tasty when shelled or dried. The dried seeds are dark with mottled markings that resemble a rattlesnake, giving this variety its unique name. Perfect for vertical gardens, trellises, or fences, this is a great choice for beginner and experienced gardeners alike.
Where Can You Grow Rattlesnake Pole Bean?
Rattlesnake Pole Bean thrives in Zones 3–9, growing best in full sun and well-drained soil. Ideal for vertical growing, these beans do well with sturdy trellising or support.
History and Historical Uses
Rattlesnake beans are an old heirloom variety treasured in home gardens for their dual purpose as both snap and dry beans. Grown for generations in the southern United States, their bold markings, resilience, and rich flavour have helped them become a popular pole bean in many gardens across North America.
