Seed the Change!
Seeds of Diversity Canada estimates that nearly 75% of vegetable varieties have disappeared. 25% of native plants are at risk and diversity in flower gardens is shrinking.
We are working to restore the biodiversity that was once common in gardens, farms, and nature around Canada!

About Red Sails Mizuna
This exciting cross between Red Sails Lettuce and traditional Mizuna mustard greens offers the best of both worlds: sweet, mild lettuce flavour with a touch of peppery zing and vibrant visual appeal. The frilled, deeply cut leaves range from bronze-red to green with red highlights and look as good as they taste. Great for early spring and fall planting, Red Sails Mizuna is slow to bolt and cold-hardy, making it a reliable and versatile option for gardeners looking to extend their harvests. Enjoy it fresh in salads, lightly sautéed, or tossed into soups and stir-fries.
Where Can You Grow Red Sails Mizuna?
Ideal for Zones 3-9, Red Sails Mizuna thrives in cooler conditions. Sow in early spring or late summer for best results. Suitable for raised beds, containers, or direct sowing in garden beds.
History and Historical Uses
Red Sails Mizuna is a relatively new variety, developed as a hybrid of the frilly, spicy Asian mustard greens and the broadleaf sweetness of Red Sails Lettuce. Mizuna itself has been cultivated in Japan for centuries, prized for its culinary versatility and vigour in cooler temperatures. This modern cross brings stunning colour, flavour, and productivity to salad greens.
