Silvery Fir is a uniquely beautiful and highly productive tomato variety, distinguished by its delicate, finely-divided foliage that resembles a fern. Canadian Zone Information
Zones 8-9: Direct sow or transplant in early spring after the last frost.
Zones 5-7: Start indoors 6–8 weeks before last frost and transplant out when weather is reliably warm.
Zones 3-4: Grow in containers or protected garden beds; start indoors early.

How to Grow and Harvest Silvery Fir Tomato

Planting: Start indoors 6–8 weeks before last frost, sowing seeds 5mm (¼in) deep. Harden off and transplant once night temperatures stay above 10°C.
Watering: Keep soil consistently moist but not soggy; mulch helps retain moisture.
Harvesting: Pick fruit when fully coloured and slightly soft to the touch. Ripens well off the vine.
Maintenance: No staking required; prune lightly for airflow if necessary.

Seed Saving Tips for Future Supply

Select Ripe Fruit: Choose fully mature, healthy tomatoes.
Extract Seeds: Scoop seeds into water and allow to ferment for 2–3 days.
Rinse and Dry: Rinse thoroughly and dry seeds on paper towel or screen.
Store: Once fully dry, store in a cool, dry, dark place; viable for 4–6 years.
