Orozco Potato
Orozco Potato
- Latin Name: Solanum tuberosum
- Seed Count: ≈ Seeds
This first release from the Metchosin Farm potato breeding program has a striking plum-coloured skin that contrasts with deep golden banana-yellow flesh. An excellent boiling variety with a delicious buttery flavour and unusual tubers that grow on the plant in pairs. Named in honour of our dear friend and respected Hualapai Tribe ethnobotanist Jessica Orozco from Arizona who was a champion of traditional foods and taken from us too soon. ‘Oro’ means gold in Spanish, and we are proud of this tribute to Jessica’s work. Each bag weighs 3/4 pound and contains 8-12 tubers.

I’ve been spoiled by Fiona’s chard and can no longer eat grocery store bought chard. Metchosin farm is a magical seed bank with some of the most unique and carefully created/birthed vegetables and fruits. If you live in the PNW her seeds will be the best thing you ever grow in your garden.

My seeds arrived less than a week after ordering, and so far everything I’ve planted is sprouting beautifully. I have every confidence my family will be feasting like royalty from our garden this summer. Thank you metchosin farm!
